Yesterday, the Cúbic space in Viladecans hosted the fifteenth edition of the Delta Awards for the best business initiatives, organized every two years by the town councils of Gavà, Castelldefels, El Prat, Sant Boi and Viladecans. The objective is to promote the companies located in each of these municipalities, placing special emphasis this year on those that promote business initiatives in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals. Other criteria that are valued are innovation, viability, the capacity and experience of the team and the impact on the territory. At the awards ceremony, the winning company from each city was announced from among three finalists. In Gavà it was Kaicycles, dedicated to the design and manufacture of nautical artifacts with pedals or electric motors. The award was collected by Manuel Francisco Sandoval, father of the company manager, Ramon Francisco, who assured that his son “already knows the news and is very happy. At the moment he is in the Arab Emirates promoting the company, that is why he has not been able to come.” Francisco Sr. explained that Kaicycles makes boats “to love nature,” and that “they have a variety of options that makes them different from everything on the market at the moment, since they can also be customized in colors and sizes, They are made by hand… I suppose this is what the jury has valued and, above all, that they are sustainable.” The company received the 1st prize for innovation at the 2019 Barcelona Boat Show and is already promoting itself internationally.
